Mr. Krantz, Director of Finance, provides extensive transactional and financing expertise. Mr. Krantz has over 35 years of experience in commercial real estate activities. He served for nine years as Executive Vice President of Midland Loan Services, Inc., one of the largest national providers of commercial real estate financial services. As a founding officer of the company, Mr. Krantz had senior responsibility for establishing and managing all of the company’s real estate activities, which involved a staff of over 125 professionals. Real estate activities included special servicing and collateral valuation for the company’s $35 billion servicing portfolio and asset management of over $3.0 billion in delinquent mortgage assets held by or purchased from the Resolution Trust Corporation. Mr. Krantz also oversaw the establishment of a nation-wide securitized commercial real estate lending operation that originated and closed over $2.0 billion in loans. These loans were pooled as commercial mortgage-backed securities, and Mr. Krantz was responsible for managing the securitization transactions. He served as Chairman of the company’s Senior Credit Committee, with responsibility for all credit decisions relating to loan origination and real estate asset management.
Prior to joining Midland, Mr. Krantz spent nine years practicing real estate law with the 150-attorney firm of Morrison Hecker (now Stinson Leonard Street). His practice was focused in the areas of acquisition, mortgage lending, leasing and development, with clients that included Metropolitan Life and Hallmark Cards. Mr. Krantz served as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, as well as Chairman of the Real Estate Department.
Mr. Krantz is responsible for transactional matters, including financial analysis, transaction structure, documentation and closing. He is also responsible for construction and permanent financing. He earned his B.A. and law degree from the University of Illinois.
